German Sherman
I was walking through a hobby store when I saw this model. I remembered checking out the internet looking for info on German vehicles of WW2. Came across something about the Germans using captured Allied armor. I knew they had used Polish and Czech armor but never carried that thought through to the use of captured Allied armor. That is when I found an article on Shermans that were captured and used by the Germans. So I grabbed this model (sorry Hobbylinc) and proceeded to build it as a captured tank. The model itself is fairly easy to build and I put it together in no time. No problem with flash and the barrel is one piece which is nice with no seam showing. Only problem I had was putting on the tracks. Directions show to put all the wheels on except the idler wheels. Then put the track on and use the idler wheel to stretch the track placing the idler wheel on its axle. Didn't work. Axle snapped and ended up reversing the order. Left the sprocket wheel last and was able to get the track on that way. Sprocket wheel has a little bigger axle so better able to handle the pressure of stretching the track to get the sprocket wheel on. Had to superglue the broken idler wheel and use the reverse technic to get the tracks on. Other than that had no problems with the build. Everything went together nicely. I don't remember the name of the article I saw but just check Youtube for German Shermans. Feel this could be built by any level modeler with just a little overseeing for the younger builders.
Buy this kit
This is a fantastic and very detailed M4A3E8. No flash, the parts fit together without sanding. And, I did not use any putty. The link on length tracks are awesome. The only place I do drop this kit a couple of points. Is the decals. All they are is pretty much basic white stars. But, do buy this kit.
Tamiya Easy 8 1/48
I really like this model. It has enough detail for me, went together with no issues, and the finished product looks great. Some of the small parts were a chore for me since I haven't done model building in a very long time. The service and timelines of ordering through Hobbylinc is top notch.
Looks Very nice!
I really like how I the pieces looked straight out of the box. There is a good amount of pieces but this model would be good for those who have at least a little bit of experience
Great looking M4A3E8
The model itself is very detailed, but the hull contains a lot of little pieces that need to be put on, so would not recommend this kit for modellers who are just starting out.
Great kit, beware of tracks!
The only reason this wasn’t 5 stars for me was because of the tracks. The kit has individual links which look more authentic, but very difficult for a newbie like me.
