Reviews : Tamiya Brick Wall Set

I found these very useful. I used them in multiple diaoramas as walls, often ruined. They can also be built into a complete building, or laid flat as a realistic street or sidewalk, low wall or high wall, sheep fence etc,, painted stone gray red brick or plaster white etc… even wall papered for an interior. I even used model putty one to make one side flat sheetrock like for an interior and the other raw red brick for an exterior in a building diaorama i did. You can also paint into a decorative Prussian brick style often found in North Germany and Prussia. They take propaganda and advertisement signs well on the side too. With additional material holes, windows and doors can be scratch built into them too.

I was slightly disappointed with this kit. It's not really an 'all in one' solution for someone who wants remains of a brick structure on their diorama because the 'broken brick' parts are broken off at such a predictable angle. They just don't look ruined and the piece is repeated over and over. It almost makes the kit feel like it was made for 1/35 scale wargamers than diorama builders. You'll need to cut and saw at these quite a bit to get them to look ruined for any realistic diorama. It is an older kit, but I am still disappointed that Tamiya couldn't have forseen a need for more realistic/varied 'damaged' wall sections - this is a simple kit, wouldn't have been that hard for them to do it...

Pay no attention to the art on the box. This is a classic ages old rick set I have used many times. There are 4 or so types of pieces as you can see on the back of the box. They are all nice new looking bricks that fit together to make a really nice new looking brick wall - straight or right angle. If all you want is a brick wall these are amazingly cheap and easy. If you want to 'war damage' them or add a door or window you're going to have to do some cutting, which is not hard, but if you really want to get into that you may want to consider some of the silicon molds that allow you to cast single bricks and brick sections so you can do your own thing.

The Brick Set went well with the diorama that I built showing street fighting in NW Europe. I used several sections by themselves and implanted inside photo mounting foam board to show the detailing of what ruined building might look like after many artillery shell hits. The pieces were covered in various layers of Plaster of Paris which I simply painted onto the brick detail. Individual bricks were placed around the wall sections for detail.

kit includes two identical trees molded in brick red unlike the italeri set. the parts are easily cut to your liking, if not quite to the extent depicted on the box art. its simplicity enhances rather than distracts from the main elements of your diorama

I will e using these together with the Itarali set. The two sets compliment each other quite well. They both take inks and washes as well as paint. There was no problems that that one set or the other dose not correct for.

Really nice, tamiya quality set. it should come with whole wall in bricks for detailed work, but even like this is ok for additional item on your diorama. material is good, heavy plastic, but also easy to cut.

This kit is very nice...after painting jobs done...this kit made me very easy to make walls like real ones...and very good price Highly recommended...

I ordered a few of these because it is easy to use and you can build buildings with them. You are only limited by your imagination.

good for a small diorama to put a model beside its just a few parts so it will be fast to build and look good painted and weathered
