A Fair Start
Tamiya came out with this set and others in the same category in the 1970s and 1980s to define figure sets as being loaded with extra detailing and separate parts such as add on rifles. This set was a far cry from earlier figure sets by other model companies and held that position until the 1990s. I built the figures from this set when it was first released and found the perfect figures for the times. The bulkiness of the parts was only due to not having the technology available for the dyes at the time and that was the reason for heavier figures. For the times, this and the companion Tamiya sets they were the best. I would highly recommend this and the companion sets for beginner model builders to learn on. I still have various figures from this set as re-released at different times and have found a place for them in many dioramas.

The over all construction of the figures is pretty straight forward. Some customization, swapping torso's, feet, etc, is easy enough and the price is right to gain experience with this kit to attempt it. Only draw back is some of the figures clothing. Legging's on some with boots with collars for the others. If doing a Normandy dio, the guys that have the boots with the collars are not correct but would be for 09/44 and on, and the same goes for their coats. Only point it out bc I had someone point it out to me on a dio I was attempting to construct. Another minor set back was the amount of flash that needed to be removed from the figures. Not a huge issue, and could have been a bad single patch from the company but over all, very excellent and fun.
Good old, high-quality kit.
For an old kit, the figures are well sculpted despite a couple of figures having seam lines going down the middle of their faces. Parts fit well but you will need some epoxy putty to fill gaps and divots. The equipment is lacking in detail so you will want to find newer sets to replace them. This set includes a nice mix of marching and actions poses, including three soldiers firing their weapons in standing, kneeling, and prone positions, as well two running for covering or advancing under fire. Plus there is a wide assortment of uniforms from all stages of the war in the ETO/MTO.
Just OK for the price, not more
These figures are made with somewhat dated 70's technology and it shows, but can be made to work for you for ww2 or Korean War or even US Allies post war period with some work. If you are going for a really detailed project get another more detailed product like Dragon etc... , but if you are looking for low price, and simplicity of building and can deal with just OK quality, these are fine for you.I think the low price is the selling point for me.
Great for figure painting practice

I bought this kit as a low cost answer for figure painting practice. It's got a lot of flash to clean up, no problem there. They obviously aren't the best out there but they'll fill the need I have for now and once painted I'll build a little diorama for that practice as well. If I was well practiced in figure painting and dioramas I would avoid this kit all together. I will recommend it for beginners like myself.
The age-old diorama-friendly Tamiya set.
Features 8 multi-part figures, with weapons and gear. Being old, 70's moulds, the detail is quite acceptable (considering the low price). Parts breakdown allows some poseability, requiring only some putty/sculpting at the joints. Very useful for dioramas, or adding some life to an armored or soft-skinned vehicle. No reason to not have at least 1 of these in your stash! Recommended.
Tamiya US Infantry Euro Theater Solier Set 1/35 scale
Very well Molded, Very Little Flash, or seam lines, Clean up was QUICK & Easy. Figures fit well together, very little putty needed to hide bad matings, Good selection of poses, * Figures included!! Good Value for the Price & with a little thought & Care easy enough to customize the figures!! Outstanding Kit, Bought 2, 100% SATISFIED!! ;-))))
Extra Realism
The kit arrived well packed. The eight figures represented a small platoon that I needed as a focal point for a bridgehead attack. As with all Tamiya products the details were outstanding. I still cannot get the eyes right but that is my lack of skills.
Great product.
Three on patrol, rest in combat.

While sculpting and detail practices in the industry have surpassed of those implemented in this kit, it is still a stand out when it comes to delivering great poses and equipment variety along second world war US ETO figures. Great price also.
a little easier

Nice set with a lot less small pieces than the Panzer Grenadiers. I wish they would have base plates. guess I will make some for them, my kids like to move them around.

This set has seen better days. It's still a good kit though. You'll need to a fair amount of filling and sanding. Great for beginners to learn on.
not great
The kit had too much flash and the poses were unrealistic. Also the figure that's prone needed re sculpting to be historically accurate.
