Great choice
Decided to start building after 30 years away (long cold winters up north here). I dove into this as my first kit back in and quickly remembered why I loved Tamiya back in the 1980's. Great kit to get back into the swing of things (building this plus Tamiya's M4 w 155/mm until airbrush is paid off currently). I did decide to cut the side plates apart the other night after I had already attached the brackets, but w Tamiya's attention to detail the molding lines cleared all the small hangers so it was easy enough to accomplish. I can see myself building it several times for different schemes and maybe grabbing some aftermarket parts for the next one and scratch building the side plates from scrap for a more realistic thickness.
Tamiya 1/35 German Sturmgeschutz IV kit #TAM35087
This is another of the Tamiya kits that I had built about 26-27 years ago. I found it to be quite interesting, and it makes a nice quality model. The tread system is of the long rubber strip type, and any upgrade to the kit would be nice to include optional molded sectional or individual link variety, for more detail-orientated builders. If the unit had the option for the StuH 42 105mm How. gun, that would be nice in any kit upgrade also. As is, it makes a nice rendition of the StuG IV Late Production tank destroyer with 75mm L/48 gun in the Saukopf-style mantle. The kit comes with a crewman, and is nicely priced. Overall, the kit is of good quality and nicely detailed, and I would recommend it to others.
Another boring Tamiya kit
Gotcha with the review title. Why boring, because everything I've built by Tamiya has been great. On occasion something may be off but that is rare. There is no raising of the blood pressure because of problems like some kits have done to me. I've built over a hundred Tamiya kits and just about all have been great. I can only recall four or five that have given me problems. Got two of these, one for me and one for grandson. This will be the second kit he builds himself and he shouldn't have any problem with it if it goes together like mine did. Would recommend this for the beginner/younger modeler. Other kits may have more detail but overall, in my opinion Tamiya is top of the line.
Great looking Stug by Tamiya!
Tamiya as usual has done it again! This was a fun, pretty straight forward build. Instructions were clear, even the side skirts went together without a hitch, definitely wasn't expecting that from looking at the Instructions before I put them in place haha I didn't even have to glue them on they hook nicely with a bunch of hooks you will glue on the skirts and it just lays over the brace frame on the tank. You can have them on or off whichever you choose depending on the scene you wanna make. The commander figure looks good. Definitely recommend for any experience level, would even make a great 1st model for introduction to the 1:35 scale category.
Great kit! Tamiya is still the best bang for your buck!
For the money and ease of assembly, you can't beat Tamiya! Very little cleanup. Everyone is different, but I like the one piece tracks. By the time I paint them and weather them they look fine to me. Tamiya and Bandai are my favorite model companies. There are kits out there that have more detail and things like photo etched parts. But they cost a lot more and have a lot more parts. For my taste, Tamiya kits are great. I don't think that you will get anything of this quality for the price. And I have built some cheap models that were not nearly as good. I have include some photos of mine.
Good deal
I am working on this model right now and so far it still is a fun project. The pieces are very detailed but not as high quality than the more expensive Tamiya models. I had to remove a lot of flesh from most pieces and there are more visible injection points than on the more expensive models. However for a model that is less than $20 it is a exceptional good value. The instructions are not as clear than other Tamiya models. I had to look up some pictures to make sure everything looks correct. Overall I am very satisfied and small visible injection points on tanks can always be covered up easily.
great older kit
i bought this tank with some doubts as it had bad ratings. but i was pleasently suprised by the quality of this kit. very nice kit as all the parts lined up exactly as they should and the fit was perfect. there is a lot of parts to assemble on this one especially small parts so have your tweezers handy. very simple instructions to follow as well. all around a great little kit. not for sure why it has bad ratings but an A+ in my book. hope this review helps to dismiss the bad ratings. thanks and highly recommend this one. well worth the money as the finished product looks great.
1st in a longtime
This is the first model I have attempted in over 60 years. I have PTSD so I needed to find something to busy my mind and hands. This did the trick. Easy instructions. There are some small parts that challenge shaky hands but nothing that can’t be overcome. This model is simple and a novice could enjoy it. I found most parts fit together well. I did some sanding and used very little putty to fill seams. Probably could have gotten away without either. My first attempt ever with battle damage, chipping or wear. Believe I will attempt some weathering
Typical Tamiya Introductory Model for Upgrades
Having worked my way through a number of Tamiya Military Vehicles it is now time to add upgrades and personalization. Tired of the standard builds and paint schemes I chose this model to be that introduction and so far not disappointed. Have seen a few customer pictures with damage marks so here goes with this lower priced Tamiya kit that gives me the chance. I will upload some pictures after completion. May well end up as a wrecked/destroyed Stug and if it fails I'll purchase another at Hobbylinc's prices not a problem.
This is a wonderful kit
This is a kit that anyone could enjoy, beginner or expert. It has a reasonable part count and excellent detail. It builds up perfectly, and looks realistic when properly painted. The Shurzen (skirts) look really neat, and provide an opportunity to leave as one piece, cut up entirely into pieces or sets of pieces, leave off a couple maybe or not use them at all. Plus, they can be damaged to any level you can dream up. This is the kind of kit that is just fun to put together, and it wouldn’t take you long to complete it.
Getting back into the hobby.
Fantastic beginner build. I am getting back into the hobby after a 15 year absence. This was a great build to shake off the rust. A straight forward build with a few Opportunities to modify if wanted. I for example separated the one piece schurtzen armor with great results. If you're looking for hyper detail or super realism this isn't the kit. If you're looking to get back into modeling or introducing a new modeler I highly recommend this kit.
Powerful Looking
OK, it's not the greatest kit out there, but it sure looks good. The big armor plates on the sides make this tank look like a beast of a machine. I didn't paint the German camouflage on this one (I find their color scheme to be ugly) and used more modern colors. Now it looks even more powerful. In fact, I tempted to get a M1A2 Abrams metal barrel and sticking that on this tank to get the ultimate beast hybrid tank-thing.
Fun Build
This was a fun build, most of the parts fit flush, I added some details, ammo cans, jerry cans, rucksacks, blankets and helmets for realism and interest. The only concern was fitting the upper hull into the lower hull. Ensure you don't glue the fenders too close even though the slots allow it. Keep them as far to the outer part of the slot as possible or the upper hull will not fit into the lower.
oldie but a goodie
This one of Tamiya's original models from the 70's when I started modeling. But it still a great kit, of course newer versions have more parts and detail. What I like that it is basic and you can modify it yourself , don't get me wrong this model has great detail. This kit is perfect for a beginner as well as skilled and is a great price. You will not regret buying this kit.
First model, very enjoyable
This was the first model I built and the model that started it all. The parts fit very snugly. There are small parts, so having a pair of tweezers would be ideal. The model looks good with or without paint. I painted mine with Panzer Schwartzgrau (gray) and it looks great. The tracks are rubber and the sprockets, idler wheel, and road wheels roll with the tracks.
A very good kit, reasonably priced
A very good kit, reasonably priced. Easy enough for the beginner, but with enough scope to keep a intermediate happy!! Over 1,000 of this variant were built so camouflage variations are limited only by your imagination. This 'rebuild' was good fun, and I was very pleased with the result. The kit generated quite a lot of interest, when it was sold on evil-bay.
Great little kit
I like this kit a lot. It is fairly small compared to my other tanks of the 1/35 scale, but it is a must add to the collection. I picked it up at a hobby store for about 35 dollars, so the price here in hobbylink is pretty great. I would recommend this item to anyone considering purchasing. It is a great addition to your 1/35 vehicle collection
Well worth it!
Purchased here on line. Like every Tamiya kit, goes together like all kits should. I enjoyed the build, the painting (Tamiya acrylics) and the weathering (Vellejo). Very little sanding was needed. This is a good kit and can recommend it even to a beginner (considering I am but a half step or so above that). But even more, it was fun.
Great Tank
I would have to say that this tank was one great build I've had. The details and the small parts make it a very excellent build do to the detail. The extra plat armor on the added sides brings out the tanks detail on it. I went with the basic paint detail on it. The figure has some great detail also.
Stug IV build
gotta love Tamiya for these classic models. For 20$ this kit has just 4 sprues, plenty of detail, very little flash, good instructions and typically excellent fit up. The 1 pc tracks look great once painted, detailed for wear and filth. overall this is 5 star kit
Wonderful build
Another great kit from Tamiya. This one is an easy build with no flash, parts fit great, several options of decals/liveries. Fun to build, I recommend this one for modelers of all ages. Looks great after finished.
Older Kit
Tamiya's Sturmgeschutz IV is a pretty old kit. That builds up to really kit. The fit is great. And perfect for some fairly new to the hobby. As well as someone who been building for years. A great weekend project.
Tamiya Stug
Everything fit vey well had no issues with the build. Exterior details are excellent. Very easy to increase realistic look with some very simple modifications to pieces already in the kit. It was a very fun build.
So nice.....
One of Tamiya's older kits. But, you would never know it. Everything fit together great. With very little flash to clean up. Some may find the vinyl tracks tricky. But, they fit very well.
Stug IV Tank
Very well crafted model kit, great details. The instruction booklet came in both English and Japanese, and included a bunch of extra details that assisted during the assembly.
Great
Good kit, easy to put together, good for a beginner, low price, very realistic. many decals and options on how to put it together. Its really big, and super cool looking.
Nice kit, cool detail
This is a fun kit in typical Tamiya quality. I found the tracks a challenge but loved adding the exterior detail, particularly the upper machine gun shield.
Sturmgeshutz iv
This model is nice you can build it different ways depending on area of conflict buying the little extras helps enhance the build and look of the model.
Great Tank
Who does not love a Stug? This tank is easy to put together like any Tamiya kit is. Looks beautiful, and is a Stug. What more could you ask for?
Had this kit when I was a kid!
Surprised that Tamiya still is releasing this kit, as I had it when I was a kid. Simple build, yet detailed and accurate. Brought back memories!
A nice stress reliever
It was came with in a reasonable time and was very easy to put together as most Tamiya models are. This model was a really nice stress reliever.
Stug IV
This kit was alot of fun putting together. So many little details and fit perfectly. Definitely buying another to paint different camo schemes.

Tamiya Stug IV
Great kit. Had a Stug as a youth, wanted to build another. Enjoyed the detail of the kit, good one to start up the hobby again.
Great kit
This is an absolute gem of a kit , very clean and detail parts , very clear instructions . Definitely rate this a 10 out of 10
Emblematic Tank
The figure are really good. Details of the kit are a little bit basic. For the historic relevance and price, I recommend it.
Another great kit

First time to build this kit. I am very satisfied with this kit as a base. A few add-ons, and you have a fine model.
German sturmgeschutz tank
This looks like it would be fine to build. I will order this and use it for the German soldiers to ride on.

I've wanted this kit for awhile now. I can't wait to display it with the panzer grenadiers set.
Extremely satisfied
This was my first time completing this specific model and I loved it. Would DEFINITELY do it again
Good overall.
A lot of features for an old kit, pretty straightforward. I'd recommend for semi-new modelers
Excellent kit!
For a Tamiya kit from the 70's this is a pretty great kit. Excellent for weathering.
