Sd.Kfz.182 King Tiger
This was an awesome kit to build and I enjoyed every second of it. The detail was close to as defined as dragon kits are, and the fit of everything was great. The back piece to the chassis was the only part I needed to add putty to after assembling. The interior detail was more than what I was expecting. It is enough to leave all the hatches open if you choose, and would be a great start if you want to buy after market interior parts to really display the inside. I don't really like the rubber band style of tracks, but because the top of the tracks are covered they ended up looking fine. The decals were nice and stuck very well with the help of decal solution. In addition, the instructions were clear and provided a lot of information. I ended up buying photo etch grill covers because the mesh they provide just does not look good to me. Along with that, I bought a metal barrel to replace the two piece plastic one from the kit. This was a great kit, the only thing that could make it better is if tamiya could replace the mesh with PE grill covers. Personally, if the cost went up just a bit for PE Grill covers I think it would be worth it.
Builds easily with plenty of room for add-ons.
This kit has been around for over 20 years and its still a fairly accurate easy to build kit. Comparing wheels and other details with the more detailed Dragon King Tiger kits the quality is on par minus the metal parts present in the Dragon kits. Anybody from a novice to an experienced modeler will enjoy building this and there a plenty of aftermarket parts available, from track links, to engine sets, interior turret sets and photetched detail sets and all are relatively easy to find as well. Overall this is an easy to build kit and a popular subject with alot of aftermarket options anybody interested in Axis armor will find this a welcome edition to their collection.
King of the Battle
I built this kit years ago and found it to be a huge tank compared to the other German and US tanks as in real life. I'm sure that the size was a real shock to all. The kit I recall was easily assembled with little or no mold problems and fit. The detailing was good for the time with lots of extra possibilities as the kit is expandable. I detailed my kit with Zimmerit Anti- mine coating by using a trick I read about in a scale model magazine, I used the raised edges of diner napkins glued with Super-glue applied to the surfaces that would be typically coated. The tank really adds to any collection of armor!
Fun King

Tamiya quality shows even on a early kit. Everything went together perfect. I kept the loaders hatch open and add a extra crew member. Plus I added extra 88mm shells in the turret storage. I kept the rear hatch on the turret open to help see the shell storage. I also left the color all dark yellow as it would have been out of the factory. Then high lighted the details on the tank. I didn't want to hide the detail with dark colors. My next tiger I will add camouflage. The only con I can give the kit is has no loader and 88mm shells for the storage racks in the turret. Keep having fun.
Excellent kit
This is a great kit from Tamiya. The details are nice and crisp. As with any Tamiya kit I have built, there is very little flash, always a great fit and the instructions are very easy to follow. I was a little disappointed by the rubber band tracks as I feel you get better detail out of molded plastic ones, especially when it comes to replicating the sag of real tracks. There are plenty of after market parts that can really make this kit great. I'd recommend this kit to anyone, as the only thing I saw wrong with the kit were personal preferences.
It Was a King of Tanks (Good thing it came too Late)
This kit is the usual excellence from Tamiya. It is molded well and the fit is second only to their aircraft. It was a pleasure to build and very relaxing at that. I believe Tamiyas tanks are their best in ease and pleasure to build. I chose the usual German 3 shades of dark gray. Also went for mud effects since these monsters did so much damage in the worst seasons of the year. Thank goodness for our guys these things showed up late to the party and with no supply chain. I definitely give this tank 3 thumbs up (?). Its that good. See my photos.
Classic Tamiya
This one was one of my more favorite Tamiya kits to build. It is very easy to build, with no real small pieces. The rubber band tracks fit perfectly compared to other Tamiya kits. Painting is very easy, the only real trouble I had was painting the commander. The commander figure is supposed to be wearing a black leather jacket and with his radio wires it is hard to see the difference on what is what
King of the Tigers
Loved this kit. Typical Tamiya quality. Went together very well and extremely happy with how it turned out. Used Tamiya's weathering kits on it to get a well used King Tiger look! Makes a great addition to any 1/35 scale collection. Includes netting for the engine grill intakes. Also shows you how to make and apply zimmerit if you want. Highly recommend this King Tiger!
awesome !!! spectacular !!! another tamiya home run !!!
I absolutely love this kit..i took my time on it. all parts fit perfect little to no flashing. all sprues are readable. it gives you 3 types of color schemes. I went with the desert sand and german red brown. you cant go wrong with this kit. highly recommend for everyone. enjoyed this a lot. this is my second kit of the king tiger. love it...
Tamiya 35164 King Tiger
I have my complaints about Tamiya, but when they do it right they really do it right. I think this kit is fine and dandy. No bells and whistles, no PE, but it all goes together well, cleans up easy. And it's fun to build - which means (to me anyway) the instructions are sufficient. I based my build (loosely) on #233 which still runs.
Really impressive when done
I really liked building this tank - it was very satisfying to look at when done because it is so dang big and powerful looking compared to the others in my collection! The add-on details like extra tracks are nice, but one of the things I like most is the 'tread skirt' which hides the top portion of the rubber treads. Very nice kit!
Fun kit!
Just finished this kit, and I have to say it was a fun one! I ended up getting the Photo-etch detailing kit for this build and I do not regret it. Only complaint was the tracks. They wouldn't stay connected so I had to add a little insta-cure+ and they stayed connected no problem! Definitely recommend this kit!
German Königstiger Panzerkampwagen (King Tiger tank)
Really great model. I built in just under 3 hours (without painting). The camel color the parts are cast in brings it close to the desert camo, but it also comes with a scheme to paint it yourself. This was my first tank model so I just left it as is, and it turned out great
Fun build
I loved this build. I built this as a gift for my grandson and I was proud to give him the finished product. Excellent details and the parts fit without a problem. My only problem with it was some of the small parts but I'm getting old.
Nice big kitty!
I enjoyed building this King Tiger, but I’m only giving it four out of five stars. Reasoning behind this is: The tracks are a little too tight, and I wish there were more decal options. Other than that, the kit fits nicely together.
Tamiya King Tiger
Tamiya does not disappoint. This was a fun kit to build. There are a lot of very small pieces for the turret, so I recommend not dropping any :) Completed vehicle looks real good and it is a great tank to custom camo.
good kit, no photo etch
I thought the detail on this kit pretty good. There is no photo etch and the tracks are the rubber band type. The overall build looks pretty good on the shelf with the rest of the German collection..
Tamiya 1/35 King Tiger Tank
Another excellent Tamiya kit. I am looking forward to building this one after I get some other projects comleted. Initial examination shows plenty of detail and good instructions. Another winner.
Tamiya King Tiger
Typical Tamiya quality! I love building tamiya kits, this is a great example of a quality King Tiger kit, Zero Flash parts fit perfectly as all of all Tamiya kits, netting a satisfying result.
Another great typical military tank kit from Tamiya
I built the remote controlled motorized version of this kit and it come together nicely. Typical fit and finish you would expect from Tamiya.
Like alot
One of my favorite German tank next to original tiger. This one has a beautiful body style and not that hard to build either
