Basic, solid, easy to build Tiger I
By: saerdo
Tamiya engineering is second to none for fit and easy of assembly. With that however, you sacrifice detail. Fair warning, if you're looking to build Tiger 131, this isn't the kit, you need the early model for that. This kit went together without any issues, it just about falls into place. My only issue with Tamiya Tigers is that they don't come with the photo etch screens for the back deck. You have to order those separately. I recommend that because they do add detail the the kit and stand out. Great kit for a a weekend build. Highly recommend.
A bit dated but still a good kit
This kit dates from 1989 and it shows in the lack of extra details compared to newer kits of the same subject. This isn't necessarily a bad thing as it offers a great no frills Tiger I as used by the Afrika Korps. Fit and finish of the parts is excellent, the instructions are superb, and the decals well made. This would make an excellent kit for the beginning armor builder, as well as a good starting point for the super-detailer.
Great Tank

It was a great build. Extremely easy to assemble and in my opinion very detailed for an older kit. This was so far my favorite model and I am happy how it tuned out.
I always try to have only Tamiya models for my tanks and so far I have not been disappointed.
Older Kit But A Good One

Well what can I say its a Tamiya , and its an older kit but I was very happy with the outcome. It does have the detail of newer kits , and the tracks are not the best . But still a great weekend kit .

this was an excellent version of the early tiger. also gives the opportunity to do late version. all parts were perfect..instructions easy as usual with Tamiya. very little if no flashing or sanding.
Tiger 1

What a great kit. I just started on it and as usual Tamiya kits just fit together perfectly. It is a great representation of the real tank. I’m getting the mid-production one next. A terrific model.
DAK Tiger 1 #731

Builds up to a great example of the DAK Tiger #731. Great reference photos of this particular Tiger on line. Better price point than on the higher end kits.
