Reviews : Tamiya M4A3 Sherman 105mm Tank

I have built most of the Tamiya Sherman series now and have the best luck with all of the models in this highly praised series of tanks. The 105mm Tank is basically the same as all of the others with the exception of the barrel piece which represents the up-graded gun used in World War Two for greater infantry support and not in an anti-tank role as one might think although the firepower existed if needed. As will all of the Tamiya Sherman models the chassis and tracks are very much the same and the ease of building an accurate drive system remains simple. The upper hull and turret on this model represent a late war addition for detailing as much as you can as crews of five had to pack everything with them as with all other tanks. Extras are shown in the photos and add to the great detailing parts which I still have to add lots of onto the model. The basis construction is fairly straight forward and can be done by anyone with Sherman model experience. As shown on the box I used a Winter camouflage scheme to keep with the theme of the original build of the model. Highly recommended for any model builder.

Same quality and detail expected of Tamiya. Plenty of extra accessories, and crew figures to add to your display. Also includes three excellent infantry figures in Winter gear. The infantry figures are molded in a form fitting way, so that the body parts easily positioned for assembly. The drawback to this is, if you like to custom build figures, it will take more work. Also, as with any detailed kit, the smaller pieces are harder to handle, especially if you are like me, with big fingers and poor eyesight. So have your tweezers and magnifying glass handy. Still a great kit, I would highly recommend.

Tamiya's attention too the fine details has produced a great kit that builds into an excellent representation of this well recognized tank. The additional crew figures, external crates packs, and fuel cans etc. are a nice touch that really enhances the finished result. Though the detail on the exterior is impresive their is no interior, but using the crew members to fill open hatches more than makes up for that. It is an enjoyable build and the result is as rewarding as it is realistic.

I just got back into doing models and started with 7 WWII era tanks from Tamiya. This model was very fun to put together and the attention to detail was great. With all the figures and extra accessories you can literally make this a diorama if you wanted to. The extra parts included (from spare road wheels, spare track, K-ration boxes, ammo boxes and so on), give this model a real authentic look. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a great model to add to their collection.

Fun to build. It’s a little bit easy to build and the directions could be better but with pictures on here it makes it easier. I like the extra details and that the tracks actually roll. Overall great fun, easy build with a few different options on paint and set up.

I have nothing but praise for this kit. The molding was superb with no flash at all and the parts fit was impeccable. The model assembles quite easily and offers a lot of detail on the turret and the upper hull. The running gear detail was nice too.

This was the first tank model i built and i loved it. The amount of accessories really gives the vehicle a unique and dynamic look. The figures are perfect because it give a sense of action making it perfect to put into a diorama.

Excellent kit! Great weekend project. The lines are clean and crisp! Tamiya hit another kit out of the park! Definitely recommend this kit for folks with moderate modeling experience.

This is an amazing model kit the figures have great detail and the accessories to the tank made it look like the real thing. I greatly recommend this kit.
