Excellent Build
By: snod
This is my first Abrams that I have built and I enjoyed it. Great detail, different versions and lots of accessories. PRO'S: The detail, instructions and fit is excellent. The bustle rack has a mesh bottom that you cut out. The hatches and cupola have transparent material that you paint, cut out and install in all vision ports. They look so real. The two piece gun barrel went together with no seams. No need to purchase a metal barrel. They give you so much extra crews gear that I couldn't use it all. I didn't want to cover up so much of the turret. Two different cupola and machine guns. Add or delete the APU and CIP. Decals went on great. CON'S: NONE. I am a Navy Vet so I didn't know much about the Abrams. So I purchased the Squadron Signal in Action. (hobbylinc has) This was a great help. I also use Testors acrylic wash to bring out the tanks and crews gear detail. (black wash 79413) This is not a kit you put together in a weekend. Study the instructions before you start and decide what version you want. I high lighted which steps went with my version. This kit is NOT for a beginner, but a experienced builder. Just take your time and enjoy. I look forward to building Tamiya M1A1.
Well Designed and Detailed Abrams!
Well once agaian I feel that Tamiya came thru on its accuracy, it is a thick plastic design that I like, Alot of small pieces so if you have large fingers clips are a must, you will need too have some good degree of modeling skill and patience if you are looking for a pro finish, it is not terribly complicated at all the guide book is well laid out and if you don't rush, you can have a great time with the Build, I don't think a Beginner would want to jump right into this one but with after a couple less intricate parts this is worth the money and time too invest in , I am one to say from experience, I served on many Variants of the M1 Abrams, so I really try to give the best review possible , Detail and cosmetics wise great, plastic parts could be a littlethicher so they do crack as easy, Hope You Enjoy! Scott M.
Overall good
This is a perfect kit to start your collection of modern us armor and vehicles, it's a vary straight forward kit with vary little problems, the only part that's a little hassle Is cutting out the glass for the vison ports, it could have been designed a bit better so they fit good but besides that it's a great kit and comes with a ton of gear and storage for the kit Which look great once complete. Overall I highly recommend.
AWESOME TANK
I builded this kit 10 years ago and i remember that i was very impressed about the extreme level of detail and lots of variety of items that comes with this kit. The tank is top quality and comes with plenty of options for several types of terrain such as desert, forest or winter. However, this tank is not recommended for unskilled beginners because is quite complex to build. I rate this tank 10/10 and i recommend it totally.
Excellent
You can never go wrong with Tamiya. Every part is well detailed no flashes in the plastic molds everything connects together well when glued of course. Once all done a nicely built M1A2 afterwards. I've always enjoyed Tamiya builds no obstacles to run into no builder's nightmare and very detailed instructions it's hard to mess up while building this model so 5 stars for this kit.
one of the best from tamiya !!! great kit great tank...
this is one of the best kits for the m1a2 ive put together. lots of extras. no fit issues at all. however before you attach the second machine gun put the crew member in first so gun handles fit into hands. im going to do a desert diorama with the m1a2/paladin/m113/m1a2 sep/Bradley. this was an overall great kit.well worth the money and time
Tamiya 1/48 M1A2
This kit contains 259 parts in light beige. The details are excellent, however, a few details are missing for the kit to be up to date, such as non-slip hull panels. In comparison to other kits, this kit has really made noticeable changes to the 120mm turret.

Typical Tamiya Quality great Kit!
I enjoyed building this Kit, Build my share of Various other manufactures Abrams, Can't beat Tamiya for the quality of their kits ease of assembly and the End result when completed. they just seem to fall together, Really recommend this Kit!
Typical tamyia quality

Great fit, great detail. I had a great time building this and it was worth buying the tamyia one. Detail is amazing out of the box and there are tons of aftermarket goodies to add. I’d buy another one if I had a place to put it
Very realistic.....
I spent 17 years on these beast from the M1 to the M1-IP to the M1A2. Everything is dead on. Very easy assembly, looks wonderful and brings back memories. I plan on building a couple more in different pain schemes....
