T-Rex on the run! A fun diorama.
I built this kit to be included in the displays at a local university's mineral and fossil museum. I used oils for the final finish and combined this kit with other Tamiya dinosaur subjects.
There was nothing really unusual or especially challenging about the construction. The part fit was a little tricky in some areas, mostly around the more sharply curved anatomies. Filling some seams was a bit or work and required a lot of care to preserve the skin textures. I am not completely happy with my detailwork, but I am pleased with the result. I added weight to the base underside to give the whole unit more stability. I also pinned T-Rex's foot to the base with a bit of brass rod, so TR wouldn't fall flat!
I can't really give any pro's or con's, after all it is a reproduction based on the fossil record, a very good fossil record to boot. There isn't anything else I would have liked to know before I purchased the kit. I sure had a lot fun with it! The scale is 1/35, perfect for dinosaur vs. armor dioramas!
