Reviews : Tamiya North American P-51D Mustang

Amazing! To me this is THE best P-51D kit on the market, no exceptions. In typical Tamiya fashion it will make into an outstanding aircraft. No flash. Panel line and rivet detail is good, not overdone. Moveable landing gear and a few other things are not necessary but that's just my opinion. At this price point those toy like features aren't necessary. Detail, parts fit, dimensions, etc are all amazing. This kit is for serious modelers that want to create the best and don't mind paying the price. It includes everything with options to make the subject of your choice. Many aftermarket pieces available although not necessary unless looking for different decals/markings. I love Tamiya kits although some may consider it over engineered as some details may not be visible once closed up. Tamiya offers removable cowlings and panels if so desired. Spend the money, take your time, have fun! You will not be disappointed.

An excellent kit. Well engineered and hardly any fit problems. Goes together nicely. Cons are that there are parts that are easily lost. Had a few parts that I lost, some polycaps, one half of the outer air intake for the radiator, and a metal rod. Had issues with the flaps and ailerons inserting them into the wing. Cowlings are just a tad too small to create a seamless outer fuselage from the front of the cockpit to the nose. If you lose parts, Tamiya's customer service is top notch and will replace any part that is lost and/or defective. I would purchase again to do a different version of the plane.

Every detail is well thought out and represented. It is as if a full sized Mustang was shrunken down and turned into a plastic kit. Sharp and EXCELLENT fit!

This is one of the most beautifully engineered aircraft models I have built in my 60+ years of model building. A must-build for any experienced modeler.

Just take your time with the fit of the engine. Be SURE to pre fit engine and mounts to be sure everything lines up perfect.

It's one great model to buikd. The parts are so detailed. The design of the kit makes it more of a realistic look.
