Reviews : Tamiya A6M5C Type 52 Zero Fighter

This kit has been around since 1983 and it is still one of the better kits in this scale. It does have an odd mix of raised panel lines on the fuselage and recessed ones on the wings. Both are very nicely done but it would have been better to have them all the same. The cockpit is well done for the scale and has decals for most of the instruments. The color callouts for the interior need to be updated to match new information that has come out since this model was first issued. The engine, landing gear and flaps are nice out of the box but Tamiya gives instructions on how to improve the details on these items and any modeler that wants to try will find that these really do make the model that much better. For seventeen and half bucks this model is a great value in terms of detail and scale fidelity. With a little help even a beginner should be able to turn out a nice replica of the most iconic Japanese fighter of the War.

This is an older Tamiya kit with less of the details you'll find in more modern castings. But it's low price. Despite its age, it's still a solid kit with great fit. With some added scratch built details, you can have a fine looking display model. The instructions suggest potential addon's which are designed into the molding. For example, they the wing flaps have recessed spaces to cement in scratch built stringers. I modified the engine to have tube enclosures for the valve lift rods plus ignition cables for the spark plugs. Among other details, I also installed hydraulic brake lines for the wheels. The kit comes with 2 sets of canopies; A completed one for a closed canopy and a 3 piece set for an opened one. I built my open so you can see the details in the cockpit. The kit also comes with several figures. I ignored these.

For this money, very, very good set. Detailing very decent niche chassis very well elaborated. The motor is also good, with all the elements allow them to to refine.Glazing cockpit is excellent, there is a variant with an open cockpit.Decals are very good, too, the presence of the instrument panel. Fancy plating as an internal and external.Plastic of good quality.Decent detailing the exhaust system, guns, cockpit.Definitely can recommend both beginners and professionals. Assembling the model has left only pleasant experience, even wanted to repeat and build another option.I not had to use putty, glue only. Excellent connectivity details.

Sorry HobbyLinc I had passed this by so many times because I wasn't looking for Japanese aircraft. My local hobby store has some 1/48 Tamiya versions for nearly $30 but I pulled this one out and said $14. I couldn't refuse. Instructions so at least six varieties of color and markings so there is plenty to choose from. A very old kit had this in off-white plastic but my modern box had Dark Green plastic almost exact paint color so a bonus there. All in all a great economy find that will sure to please and to be honest broaden the collection of WW2 countries that had air battles; (sorry too many German or America versions).

Ok, I just got my A6M5C Type 52 Zero Fighter today. Opened up the box to get a look at the parts etc. When I opened the instructions, I found them to be 100% in Japanese. Everything is in Japanese. I can follow the pictures, but definitions and part names are in Japanese, even the paint colors. This should be fun!

Bought this kit to get back in the groove after taking a year or more off. For the price you just can't beat these inexpensive Tamiya kits and they are a great place for someone new to modelling to get a good start with little to no frustration and still be able to have a nice end product.

As always, Tamiya makes a great model. Good instructions, they include advanced detailing info. There are many good aftermarket detail kits for this model available. If you want a 1/48 Zero model, you will not be disappointed with this one. It is the best model zero at this price point.

a pleasant day's build, conveniently molded in a suitable green. But taking your time and even following the customizing tips included will yield a real gem. The metallic blue paint on interior surfaces looks nice.

i've done 4 models so far, a revel, hobbyboss, and 2 tamiyas. The Tamiya models go together much better than the others. Good for beginners learning the hobby. I would definitely recomend any Tamiya models.

nothing special about this kit. great deal for a mighty decent price. definitely one of those 'get what you pay for' kits but i have no complaints. it fell together and looked alright to me. id recommend it.

PARTS FIT VERY WELL,NICE KIT WITH A WHOLE LOT OF POTENTIAL A LITTLE EXTRA DETAILING GOES A LONG WAY.

3rd one in the series I’ve bought now. Not to crazy to assemble. I’d give this a good 8-10.

All put together very well, recommend taking your time on it, it came out beautifully....

Tamiya always produces a nice kit and this ine is no exception.
