Superb small masking tape
By: hhpodesta
There is no substitute for Tamiya tape when you need to mask something while building a model. It has just the right tackiness and flexibility to conform to rounded surfaces. I have been using Tamiya masking tape for years now, and in my opinion, it is most definitely one of the finest masking agents around. Always sticks well and easy to dispense.
This is the smallest size 6mm. This size is just the only good option for masking an aircraft canopy or a windshield in a vehicle especially for me as I build 1-72 planes and vehicles. I once leave a spare of this mask tape in a box for more than a decade when I use it again worked perfect like the first day.
This masking tape is always helpful and is highly recommended.
You Can't Go Wrong
Whether I'm masking canopies to paint the frame, covering small parts instead of painting around them, or masking off larger sections for splinter style camouflage (like you would see on a Stuka) or lining off the upper and lower parts of the fuselage to paint the belly seamlessly; the amount of time this tape has saved me makes this product is worth the invest a thousand times over. You can use the this without having the case with the cutting edge that is common with Scotch tape, but since it's a refill it is definitely much better to use in one of those. Super easy to restock into the holder. I use this tape multiple times through every build.
auto painter
I have been painting cars for some time now and iv used all sorts of masking tape. so i tried a few on my little cars and some were o k but to big or way to sticky. i ran across this tape and all the sizes that are available i tried some and i was surprised on how well it worked and had sharp lines, stuck good but wasn't so sticky it was unusable and its very easy to cut on the car with a sharp blade and not have to worries about cutting to deep. The tape also goes around corners or bumps and down in body lines or groves. easy to use so much so I now have 1 or 2 of most there sizes and i use them in my day job now for some things. GREAT PRODUCT!!!!!!
Works great and lasts a long time

This tape stays put, removes with no residue, and does not leak through even with heavy coats of paint. For masking glass canopies, I lay the tape down and cut the edges with a xacto knife. Because this is a paper tape, there are some fibers left over on the edges, but it doesn't affect the end result. This tape lasted me through more than six models, and the 6mm width was just right for every one of them. Also, try not to touch the sticky side with your hands before using it (obvious, I know)-- it really affects how well the tape will stick.
Well worth the money!
This tape makes laser straight paint lines. Don't stretch or pull the the tape. Lay it down flat and press down along the edges. Spray light coats to help seal the tape edges and build it up in several coats. Make sure your base paint is cured before using masking tape. Lacquer paints dry from the outside in. So it may feel dry but a strong tape may peel the base coat if you don't let the paint cure all the way to the body. I usually wait several days for the paint to cure before using any masking tape over a painted body.
Great For Masking Small Areas, But Not Good For Curves
This is a great tape to mask fine lines and in tight spaces. I use it almost every time I paint. It can also be used as a stripe tape where one wants to keep the space between stripes at the same width as an outer stripes. Using the full collection of widths available, some interesting results can be obtained.
If you want to tape curved lines or cut a clean curved lines, this is not the tape to use. Other tapes are designed for curves and leave much cleaner line.
Convenient size

Absolutely the best available for such a cheap price. I have no need for the dispenser, so I just get the refills. The factory edge on this tape is very straight and it goes down well without cutting a new edge.
This size is great for edging panel lines on 1/72 scale, and other similar applications where you need a thin, straight piece fast and don;t want to tediously cut down wider tape.
Best tape I've found.
I use a LOT of this tape and 6mm is the perfect size to keep on hand. Always get clean lines, burnishes down perfectly for No bleed edges. I also use 1mm, 2mm, 3mm and 40mm widths but by far, the 6mm gets used the most. I keep one roll on my dispenser and always have another roll waiting in the wings so that I never run out of it. In fact, I'm got another roll in my cart right now.
Excellent tape with no bleed under
By: rarem37
This tape is excellent for masking. If you burnish the edge down and are careful there is no paint bleed under. I use this for my fine masking, then use a wider tape over part of it to cover more of the area I don't want painted. I have not had a problem with this tape pulling the undercoat paint off of the model, as long as I let is dry.
Worth every Penny
I used to be inclined to buy generic painter's tape which works well enough for large or flatter seams but when there's a lot of details or panel lines, this comes through like a champion for a better cleaner, more easily applied edge for fuss free painting. Tamiya, not the cheapest but perenially consistent and reliable
Cant beat this tape for the price

i used this tape to help on a two toned car i was wanting to build and it works great. you can use it on curves and around molding for painting it, it did not leak thru and was easy to peel off. i will be ordering more in the future.
None better?
By: ljnesq
I use this tape for almost all of my masking needs on 1/25 scale models. I like it better than some of the other Tamiya masking tapes, the white ones. Tamiya seems to make really decent modelling products, e.g., their paints.
A must-have!
By: jsgraham36
This is excellent tape for its purpose. I have had no bleeding at all when using this tape, except where I failed to burnish the edge properly. I use the 6mm most often, but the other sizes certainly have their place!
Very good masking tape !
By: dvince91
It can be used on matte, semi gloss or gloss paints and all types of varnish. Sticky enough to prevent airbrushing problems but it does not alterate the base coat. Very good and easy tu use tape.
Excellent masking tape for plastic models!!
This tape is the best I have ever used!! No complaints, nice crisp, clean lines left after painting!! Wish I could put a few photos on to let you see how wonderful this tape is.
Better than blue painters tape
By: ed4203
This is perfect for masking small areas. It will not mar or pull up paint if you let the paint cure for 24 hours.
Get the dispenser for easy use and use this as a refill.
Great Tamiya product
By: bjohnston29
As with everything Tamiya, this is great stuff. You can also make gun slings and canvas bag straps with it, with some patience. Just cut small strips, glue and paint it.

I like it, this is an excellent tape, best i've ever used so far, leaves no residue on plastic or paint, and comes off easily when the paint is dry. give it a try.
Moment of Zen

On a planet that is drowning in plastic—with folks like us that are addicted to plastic—getting a refill instead of a whole new dispenser is good for your Karma.
Excellent Masking Tape

I've been using the tape on my current project and it works so much better than the generic stuff I bought at the local hardware store. Paint lines are razor sharp.
Good masking tape for fine paint lines and details!
By: anubis72
Masked the fine paint lines really well. Make sure to use a toothpick or wooden a fingernail to burnish the edges and it's all good.
A must have
By: ddiehl721
This masking tape is a must have for fine detail painting. The 6mm size works extremely well for straight and curved requirements alike.
Good tape
By: Tim (Arkansas)
Good tape paint does not bleed though it. I use it to make paint line than use blue masking tape on it to cover bigger areas.
6mm Masking tape
By: elmer5353
You have to love all. Sizes of this tape no matter what size they all stick very well and are easy to remove when paint is dry
Not too sticky
Creates a nice edge on the more difficult areas that need masking. Buy the tape in the dispenser first and then buy refills

You know you need it
By: ryan_mowat_9
Holds the pieces together while they're drying, doesn't hold much adhesive (if any) to the plastic after.
great modeling tape
I just got it earlier today and have already used it. went on very well and easy to handle.
6mm Masking Tape by Tayma
Best masking tape on the market. Great tight fit and when removed no adhesive left behind.
