Probably the best putty for filling seams. I use it primarily on 1/48 airplane models--quite a few of which require seam-filling especially between the wings and fuselage. This is solvent-based, so there's the expected odor. I run it down a seam and smooth with my finger (need a solvent like acetone to clean it off my hand). Some shrinkage, though it dries quickly and a second appliction usually does it. Sands nearly perfectly; very fine grain. Can also be used to fill scratches and errand panel lines. Once cured and sanded, a panel liner runs through it nicely. Will not dry rubbery like other putty fillers. This is the best, in my opinion. Highly recommended.

Like most modelers, I used Squadron Green putty for years, sadly, it is no longer available. I tried the Tamyia Basic type putty and Testors Putty. Both are equal to Squadron putty: both fill well, both sand well. The only differences I see are the containers. For the Tamyia putty, an applicator tool is essential. The cap is a large diameter and short. The Testors is in the old familiar tube which makes application easier in small areas. The applicator tool is still usable, but may not be always needed for Testors. Do not use either putty as a nose weight because it tends to soften the plastic and may ruin your model. Both will accept paint equally.

I used to swear by Squadron green putty - until the last tube I bought, and I couldn't get rid of the pinholes, even after several applications! After buying a tube of this stuff, no more pinhole problems, finer grain, sticks well to plastic, wet sands easily (I never dry-sand on plastic). Caution: Will probably mar the plastic finish if you get it where you don't want it, but that's what makes it stick so well.

I use this putty when filling gaps. Its pretty strong once it has time to cure and that depends on how much you use. I always let it sit over night before messing with it. I have had large gaps shrink quite a bit requiring reapplication and set time. Use a good primer and coat it more than once to get a good finish. TIP: I use q-tips dipped in lacquer thinner to smooth out the edges of the a area to reduce sanding.

I've tried both the Tamiya and the Testors putty and personally I find the Testor's one to be better. This putty dries really quickly on the outside, so if you don't move fast enough the outside of the putty dries and hardens while the inside is still soft and liquid-like. This makes it messier and harder to apply, in my opinion. The Testor's one dries uniformly and is easier to work with in my experience.

This is a basic gray putty that fills well and stays in place. This dries fast, and any excess can be easily cut away with a hobby knife. It sands pretty well, but only if it has dried. If you try to sand it before it dries completely it will make a mess. This should be used with putty application tools to get the best results. A tube of this is not small, and should last through many models.

This is great stuff. I’m used to the Testors brand putty, and Tamiya definitely makes a better product. It is very fine textured and smooths very well. It’s just the right consistency for filling small cracks properly. I definitely recommend Tamiya putty for the more discerning modeler.

Great all around filler. Dries fast and sands easily. Only complaint is that it will shrink when filling larger areas so two coats may be necessary. But all in all good stuff. One tube last forever.

Much prefer the Testors. This putty is difficult to work when wet. Sands well. But best for larger jobs. If you can't get the Testors filler. It will do...

First time ever using this putty or any kind for that matter. Works as advertised but you do have to be quick working with it because it skims over quickly.

This is great for all things that need a touch-up in the world of plastic models. A part was lost, then a substitute was made with this putty. A great buy!

Have tried the testers with poor results. Tried some of this it worked great for me. Easy to apply and sand, paint lays right over it without a problem.

Used for filling seams/gaps in model kits. Nice alternative to the Tamiya white putty. Goes on smooth and dries fairly quick. Sand smooth with ease.

Very good putty. It's easy to use and once it drys it sands smooth. Prime it and blends right in with contours of the model.

Use a toothpick and apply sparingly. Use a drop of water if you want it to seep. Sands easily with a Revlon Emory board.

this is an excellent putty i find it works best when a thin layer is used , then smoothed down and applied again

Good putty, but it stinks really bad. After about five minutes of using it I had a headache.

I love Tamiya putty and the way its spread sand can be shaped after it skims over.

This putty is real easy to apply and after drying, easy to shave and sand.
