This particular color does a decent job of simulating older rubber, for a more modern rubber it is a bit on the brown side. For vintage components like aircraft tires it will do the job, but for a more modern piece of equipment like a rubber hose found on a more modern car you have to add a darker hue such as flat black in order to make the color a bit darker to get the proper appearance. This particular paint is marketed as being flat, but in my experience with the paint it tends to be more of a semi-gloss finish, so if you want the true flat appearance you will likely have to apply a flat finishing coat onto it in order to make it appear appropriately flat. Out of the jar it tends to have the vintage coloring for rubber, but the finish appears a bit new compared to the color, but as I said that is easy to fix by applying a flat top-coat.

Testors paints have been around for a long time. I have some that are not even on any catalog and are not offered. But these paints are enamel and will last if you take care of them. Always clean the top of the bottles. Airbrush with 50/50 mix or a bit more.

This paint is good at mimicking an older tire that is exposed to the elements. It just needs to come in 1/2 oz. like other paints are offered from Testors. If looking for a newer tire color, go with flat black.

I bought to use for belts, hoses etc. and unfortunately this is not really a good representation of rubber, it's way too brown. I found Tamiya rubber color paint and I feel it's much more accurate.

I used this to paint the track tires on 3 different tanks, instead of the flat black called for in the instructions. It made them look more realistic, especially when showing the wear and tear of combat.

This is a better burnt umber than burnt umber, and can be used anywhere you'd previously have used a now-discontinued railroader's flat roof brown.
