Reviews : Trumpeter P51D Mustang IV Fighter

my first trumpeter airplane build, and i was very impressed with the quality of the kit. the parts fit was great, the level of detail was also terrific.i especially liked the manner with which trumpeter detailed the instrument panel. the film behind the clear bezels was awesome! the instructions must be studied very closely, because there isn't any written help to speak of, but i managed to build it with no mishaps. there are many extra parts to arm this plane, i think for other versions, so i used some artistic license to build a visually interesting model. color call outs seem vague to me, so again i used my experience and some artistic freedom to jazz it up. the decals were superb, but i wanted a more subdued overall look, so i didn't use all the yellow and red that was included. they applied with ease and settled down nicely with some decal set. seam filling was minimal because the fit was so good overall. i made harness belts out of tape to jazz up the cockpit a little, the photo etch buckles added a nice touch. i look forward to building some other trumpeter 1/32 scale planes that are in my kit stash, and will surely get more. i highly recommend this kit , and consider it a great model value!

I haven't built this kit yet, but I was disappointed to find that the rudder is not parallel to the center line of the fuselage. The foremost part is angled several degrees toward the port side. Just be warned. Otherwise, the kit appears to be a decent kit.
