Great replica of a lesser known ship lost at Savo Island
‘Quincy’ named for the city in Massachusetts, was a cruiser that was lost at the Battle of Savo Island in 1942. She was discovered on the ocean floor by Dr. Robert Ballard in the early 1990s. This kit depicts her at the time of her sinking in 1942. Similar to other kits produced of USN cruisers of the time, it’s a challenge to build because of space in places (AA gun emplacements for example). Main guns were also a bit trickier to assemble; they’re very close together in the turret mounts. Still a great kit to build; glad to have it in my collection.
