Excellent Putty – A Must-Have for Modelers
I've used many fillers over the years, and this Vallejo putty has become one of my favorites. It's very easy to apply, smooths out nicely, and is perfect for filling small gaps and imperfections without making a mess. One of its biggest advantages is that it can be cleaned and shaped with water before it dries, reducing the need for excessive sanding. It adheres well to plastic and works especially well for fine finishing work. For large gaps, I would still recommend using a stronger filler, but for everyday modeling tasks it's incredibly convenient and reliable. Overall, it's an excellent product that saves time and delivers great results. Highly recommended for any scale model builder.
My Go-To For Fixing Gaps And Imperfections
By: John
This is great stuff. It’s very easy to use, acrylic-based so there’s no noxious chemicals and cleanup is simple. It won’t cover large gaps but for small imperfections on 1/72 or 1/48 scale models it’s perfect. It works similarly to caulk - squeeze a bead along the gap that needs filling, then wipe away excess with a finger or damp cotton bud, and you’re done. It doesn’t shrink much so usually just one application is needed. Although it dries to the touch in about 10 minutes, it’s quite ‘chalky’ and takes several hours to fully cure, so I’d recommend leaving it overnight before sanding if you use it over larger areas.
Plastic putty good and bad
This product for me was something I have never experienced with a model putty. I like how you and fill in direct spots without having to mix a lot of putty and waisting it. The ability to thin it with water is a benefit I'm not used to, but works well. The downside of this product is that it takes quite a while to cure and when is does, it shrinks. So then you have to keep applying the putty over and over to correct your initial issue.
Great product!
This putty works so well. Completely covers up seams and makes the model look completely seamless. I find if you take your time and go through several phases of sanding, you’ll have a flawless look.
