As most true scale RR modelers don't think much of plastic kits the Merchant row kits are able to achieve a look that will rival the stick built expensive building kits. Take your time and spend a little extra effort on painting and finishing these kits. Good quality paints (Tamiya XF series) go a long way to remove the plastic sheen and do not forget a final spray of dullcote. (careful of the clear plastic parts as dullcote will fog them up). I now have 4 of these Merchant row building kits and several other Walther kits and it is making a very attractive small town. I also found them entertaining to build. Now I have a nice town and I am looking to get some cars, trucks, and people to live there.

This is a well designed and built kit but requires a lot of painting and other details that will take some time. Everything needs to be painted before any assembly. I like to add interior lights to most of my buildings. This kit has lots of windows and three floors so planning out the interior is important long before the roof goes on. I enjoyed the challenge and I’m pleased with the results.

The Walthers Merchant Row V kit is a very nice corner unit for any town. Only one thing to be aware of. If your going to paint it, give it two good coats of plastic primer first. I did not and the paint does not cover the base plastic well. It took me up up to four coats to stop the base color from showing. Lots of options for store signs and window coverings.

Kit looks really nice. All the buildings are brown and allow you to paint them whatever color you wish. Building went together pretty easily; however the window decals were a pain to put in. Because of this I give the model a 4/5 instead of a perfect score.

adds to the business districts of the town and with the sidewalks already there can go and do streets and alleys from there

Another quality Walthers product, I've never had a bad experiance with their products. Highly recommend.
