48 separate plastic parts, molded in three shades of gray. Simple straight-forward construction with clear, illustrated instructions. Completed building sits on a base that is 5 ½ inches by 4 3/8 inches. Barn is 3 ¼ inches tall. It has an attached shed and coal bin. It went together well, and the parts fit was good. The chimney is breathes for the forge that can be positioned in the front right or the left rear of the barn itself, but simply shifting the roof. It also has an ill-fitting cupola and additional pieces that can be added to give the barn more personality (sharpening wheel stone, anvil on a stump, hanging sign, tools, ladder and water barrel. The instructions state that painting is required, but these buildings always beg to be painted out – which adds so much to the overall look. Don’t forget to wash the parts before painting to clean off any lingering mold-release agent. I painted it white with black roof and red-brick chimney. I did add all the tools that the kit came with, which I thought added so much eye-appeal and just gives the building life. This model could be modified to a degree, and lights could be added. Note: if you do want to add lights, I would advise that you paint the interior of the model black, and seal the gaps from the inside. The fit is great, but cracks are inevitable in the seams and most noticeable when the model is internally lit. Very recommended, and would fit into any environment really – city or country.

A nice simple kit which mounts to a base with some molded yard detail. Includes a forge, anvil, grinding stone and some hand tools.
