I really enjoyed building this beast of a tank destroyer. The overall fit and assembly of this kit was great and it builds up very quickly, except the tracks. The tracks take a while to assemble, but look great. This kit is based on Trumpeter's awesome KV/IS series of tank kits.

Trumpeter makes good quality kits, and this one is nicely detailed. Although the build instructions display information for the molded sectional link style of tread for the unit, the one I received had the annoying individual link type, and no option for the long rubber strip style. The roadwheels are the same ones used throughout their KV-1S style chassis vehicles, which are of the M1942 type with the smaller perforations. The M1943 vehicles went with further weight reduction efforts, using roadwheel perforations about 2-3 times larger than before. This can be remedied by one of the tiny drill sets, and a bit of careful patience. If the gun tube is replaced with a reworked/modified version tube of the 203mm B-4 M1931 How., a builder can produce an example of the rare prototype version SU-203 unit that was experimented with during the time period. Overall, the kit is of good quality and is nicely detailed, and I would recommend it to others.
