A little tricky to use
There are pros and cons to this transparent black paint. I used it for window tint. It applies well like any other Tamiya lacquer but you have to be careful to build it up even to have it look right. 2 coats is about all it took to get a light smoke. I found that a third coat can make it darker but it is harder to get a level even finish. Overall, it works pretty well, there's just a bit of a learning curve. Don't forget to heat the can before application.
Very hard to get right
This is the first product by Tamiya that I haven't been happy with. No matter what I did, warmed the can, shook to death, sprayed light mist coats, this stuff sprayed out black blobs that really messed up the windows on an otherwise great build. I contacted Tamiya and they were set to send me a replacement, when they shut down due to the Corona virus stuff.
I don't know if I had a bad can or not, but as of now I cant recommend it.
Tamiya TS71 smoke lacquer works great for window Tinting
perfect for window tinting, i'm using it on 8 pro stock drag cars right now. if you want the factory tint look about two light coats is enough.
Great paint, user friendly
Tamiya paints are the best out there. Easy to use, fast drying, smooth application.
