I recently bought this, about a week ago to get me back into model airplanes. I had a great time building this model. It took me about 10 hours to complete, again from getting back into models. I had fun doing it. The pieces hold together quite well, once your glue dries it's not coming apart. The primer held on the plastic pieces well which made the painting even better. The only downside, And I think it was just with mine, I didn't get all my pieces that should have come with it. None of my bombs were in my package. ( I got this from a store and not from here) but other than that I had a great time making this and I can't wait to make another

This a very good kit for the money and the level of detail for the price is exceptional. The instrument panel has two sets of decals to represent active or shutdown modes and the ejection seat is well detailed for a 1/48th scale model. The afterburners and weapons load are the areas where this kit does come up short. The missiles, ECM pod and drop tank are representative of a BARCAP load but it would have been nice to have additional weapons for ground attack or escort missions. The afterburners are too short and I took a set from the parts box and modified them to give a more believable appearance while altering the rear of the fuselage to let them sit next to the stabilizer pivot. While still a bit short they are a full inch deeper and the correct diameter. Overall the model builds up quickly and the seams are tight so you won't need much in the way of filler and most of them fall on panel lines or hidden by other parts. The decals, with the exception of the I/P items, were consigned to the trash. I'm not a fan of the Top Gun franchise or its main actor having served with and being friends with a lot of folks in the real Naval Aviation community. I did my model as an aircraft of VFA-122 Flying Eagles using a set decals from an original issue of this kit. I recommend this kit for all modelers.
